As a congregation of the United Church of Canada which is committed to being a welcoming church that is opposed to discrimination against any person on any basis, and affirms that all human beings are made in the image of God regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and that welcomes into full membership and Ministry, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and in following the ways of Jesus who welcomed everyone, whether they were poor, rich, or just getting by; ill or healthy; self-made or educated; popular or a loner; secure or full of doubts.

We believe God intends loving relationships to be faithful, responsible, just, healing, and sustaining of the couple and those around them, and that such relationships require preparation and nurture, and acknowledging that The United Church celebrates the marriage of:
· same-sex couples
· previously divorced people
· couples of different religions
· all people who believe in Jesus Christ and want to live faithful to his way
All marriage requests first go to the Minister at Bridgewater United Church. The Minister will meet with the couple to hear the story of their love and their hopes for a ceremony. After this, the Minister will forward the request to the Church Council for final approval.
